The holidays can either seem to be over really quickly or drag on for ages and you lose track of which day it is. Therefore, it’s important that you find fun and engaging things to do during this time to keep busy. Whether you’re looking to keep your brain stimulated or to create fun activities for the kids to do, we have created a short guide on how to be creative during the holidays, so you won’t be stuck for ideas anymore.
Be Artistic
One of the easiest ways to pass the time, whilst having fun is to be artistic. You can easily create cheap canvas prints that you can display around the house afterward. Simply buy as many blank canvases as you want, some paint and get creative! You can venture outside if it’s lovely weather to get to know your garden better or challenge yourself to paint a portrait of a member of your household. You can paint or draw whatever you want and the best part is, you will have a beautiful canvas print to hang on the wall when you’re done! Whether you want to paint the canvas on your own or with your friends or family, this is the perfect activity for during the holidays. It also encourages kids to use their imagination, as they paint literally whatever they want onto the canvas.
Get Baking!
Baking cakes and other sweet or savory treats is another fantastic way to be creative during the holidays. You can use the opportunity to brush up on some baking skills or you can learn a new one. With so many virtual cooking lessons available too, you can learn from the comfort of your own home too!
If you are going to bake with the kids, this is a great, albeit a little messy, idea for getting everyone to join in together. They can learn to follow a step by step recipe and the different ingredients that go into baking cookies, cakes or whatever you choose to bake. The little ones will love decorating the final product too, which can be a wholly separate activity once the cakes have cooled and you have washed everything away!
Learn To Play An Instrument
With more time on your hands, you could learn to play an instrument on your own or you could learn with your kids as an excellent bonding activity. You may already have an instrument at home that you haven’t found the time to learn yet or you may want to further your musical skills to learn another instrument. There are many online tutorials you can opt for, or alternatively use an online tutor if you would prefer to stay at home or you could visit a music teacher for lessons. During the holidays you will have more time to practice. Even if you don’t want to learn to play an instrument, you could suggest it to your kids and they may be interested; within weeks of practicing they could really progress.
As you can see, there are a number of ways that you can be creative during the holidays alone and with the kids. Hopefully, this guide has given you some inspiration for you to start getting creative!
